Jos was a wonderful guide!!! She is an extremely knowledgeable botanist who is a longtime local in Terlingua who also knows birds, fauna, and geology. By the end of our wonderful hike, I was very inspired, curious and educated! A few times I was crawling around next to the trail, eyeing a tiny flowering plant or cactus and hearing from Jos why the colors were a certain hue or why similar species were grouped on a hillside or why the plants were camouflaged by the rocks! Highly recommend!!!

Rarely use guides but wanted to get a solid understanding of Big Bend before doing some solo hikes. Very glad i did! Jocelyn has both the academic and field knowledge (plants, birds, geology, ecology etc.) as well as a deep reservoir of park history and local community lore to make anyone's appreciation of Big Bend that much richer. Helped me sort out the yuccas and beargrass and sotols, and i learned all about the different chollas, too. She really knows her stuff. Definitely recommend!

As this was my first visit to Big Bend and I had specific photographic goals in mind, having Joselyn show me the "lay of the land" made perfect sense on my first day in the park. She understood exactly what I was looking for and provided an outstanding tour of Rio Grande Valley, Chisos Basin, and the scenic road down to Santa Elena Canyon. Though my primary goal was scoping out sites for nighttime astrophotography, I thoroughly enjoyed the knowledge of the park's geology, flora, and fauna that Joselyn shared throughout the day we spent together. Anyone visiting Big Bend and is considering a guide would be wise to hire Joselyn for whatever your desired activities might include. I fully and enthusiastically endorse Explore Big Bend and Joselyn to enhance your experience of this amazing national park.

What Should You Do in the Big Bend?

There are so many choices and options, it all depends on how much time you have and what you're interested in.  Drives, hikes, or just sitting and watching the world do its thing-- it's all possible.

First time?  Old-timer?  I'd love to help you plan your visit to get the most out of your experience.

I can join you on the park's better known trails and help you get a deeper understanding of what we'll see... or we could head off-trail to less-visited locations that aren't as well known.

Get in touch, let's see what awesomeness we can find!
