- Joe HDon't go hiking without a guide! Joselyn helped us understand the geology and the plants as we walked the trail. She also taught us very practical safety for hiking the area. My two boys asked many questions and she was able to answer them in a way that they could understand. We all learned so much from her. Hiring Joselyn was the best decision, and the highlight, of our trip to Big Bend National Park. Joselyn is so knowledgeable and easy to converse with. She made our hike so much more enjoyable. We certainly gained a much deeper appreciation for the nature around us. When we visit again, I will hire her again!
JoeRarely use guides but wanted to get a solid understanding of Big Bend before doing some solo hikes. Very glad i did! Jocelyn has both the academic and field knowledge (plants, birds, geology, ecology etc.) as well as a deep reservoir of park history and local community lore to make anyone's appreciation of Big Bend that much richer. Helped me sort out the yuccas and beargrass and sotols, and i learned all about the different chollas, too. She really knows her stuff. Definitely recommend!
- Adrienne EJos was a wonderful guide!!! She is an extremely knowledgeable botanist who is a longtime local in Terlingua who also knows birds, fauna, and geology. By the end of our wonderful hike, I was very inspired, curious and educated! A few times I was crawling around next to the trail, eyeing a tiny flowering plant or cactus and hearing from Jos why the colors were a certain hue or why similar species were grouped on a hillside or why the plants were camouflaged by the rocks! Highly recommend!!!
